Bernard “Bernie” Kreikemeier, 50, of Lees Summit, MO, formerly of West Point, died December 1, 2006 at Kansas University Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Prayer services will be held 7:00 pm. Tuesday at Rockhurst High School Rose Theater in Kansas City, MO. Wake services with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:30 pm. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point and Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 3:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point and will continue at the Church. Memorials may be made to Rockhurst High School’s Baseball Field and Program, Central Catholic Endowment, or Neurofibromatosis type 2 research. Bernard Gerard Kreikemeier was born September 28, 1956 at West Point, NE to John B. and Virginia Pieper Kreikemeier. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School and was a 1974 graduate of Central Catholic High School. On November 21, 1979, Bernie married Mary Prinz at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple made their home there while Bernie worked at Iowa Beef Processing. Bernie then worked his way thru Wayne State College, graduating with a Teaching Degree in 1987. The family moved to Missouri where Bernie taught at St. Mary’s school in Independence, MO. In 1989, he began teaching at Rockhurst High School in Kansas City, where he chaired the Computer Department, taught computers and accounting. He was assistant Varsity baseball coach and sophomore football coach. Bernie received his master’s degree in 1994 and was working toward his administration degree. Bernard was member of Our Lady of Presentation Catholic Church in Lees Summit, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a huge sports fan who loved coaching his own children in football, basketball, and baseball. He was an umpire and referee. Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Lees Summit, MO, daughters Beth and Brooke (fiancee; Adam Warden) all of St. Louis, sons Patrick, Brett, and Bryce all at home, parents, John B. and Virginia Kreikemeier of West Point, mother in law Beata Prinz of West Point, sisters Carol (Rich) McGill of Fremont, Mary (Larry) Rihanek of Pender, Joan (Leon) Steffen of West Point, Marcia (Carmen) Klein of Bellevue, and Susan (Joe) Hodson of Omaha, brothers John (Anita) of North Bend, Kevin (Cherie) and Thomas (Kris) both of West Point. He is preceded in death by a brother Patrick in 1983, father in law Thomas Prinz, brother in law Dan Slagle, and grandparents Ted and Clara Pieper and Bernard “Ben” and Bertha Kreikemeier.
