William F. “Bill” Kaup, 87, of West Point died December 28, 2006 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Bill was born November 17, 1919 on the family farm just north of Aloys to Conrad and Justina Stratman Kaup. He grew up there and attended St. Aloysius Catholic School. He attended St. Lawrence Seminary in Wisconsin for one year. On September 29, 1954 he married Rita Scanlon at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Schuyler. The couple farmed at Aloys until retiring into West Point in 1994. Bill had been a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where he had served as trustee. He was a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Bill served on the Pebble Creek Catholic School Board. He served as the first treasurer for the Nebraska Pork Producers in the 1960’s. Bill raised show hogs and participated in events all over the state. He was a sports enthusiast who loved golfing at Indian Trails. Survivors include his wife, Rita, of West Point, daughter Maureen (Dave) Mausbach of Columbus, son Kevin (Rhonda) of West Point, sisters Justina Kroenke of Dodge and Anna Parr of Uehling, grandson Garret Kaup, step grandchildren Jenna and James Walden. He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Katie Langhorst, Theresa Langhorst, and Elizabeth Deppe, brothers Henry, Joe, Alex, Conrad and John Kaup.
