Virginia Meister, 81, of West Point, died Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Lakeside Hospital in Omaha. Funeral Mass 10:30 am. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Sunday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be noon until 4 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home and continue at the church. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels Endowment or American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Virginia was born March 15, 1930, on the farm in Dodge County to Lumir and Marie Mendlik Mestl. She attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic grade school and was a 1947 graduate of Dodge High School. On September 21, 1948, Virginia married William Meister at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. The couple farmed west of West Point where Virginia raised chickens and a large garden. In 1995, they retired and moved to West Point. Virginia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild and Christian Mothers. She was active with extension clubs and enjoyed bowling and traveling. Virginia volunteered at Guardian Angels Catholic School and judged produce at the Cuming County Fair. But most of all she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother, following many of their activities. Survivors include daughters; Janice Judd of LaVista, Mary Meister of Ashland and Cindy Stratman of West Point, sons; Ralph (Theresa) of Springfield, Allen (Cheryl), and Steve (Donna) all of West Point, brothers Eugene (Lavina) Mestl of Beemer and Paul (Janet) Mestl of Lincoln, sister in law Leona Pieper of Papillion, aunt Angie Dworak of Dodge, grandchildren; Jenny(Darrick) Luethje, beth (Chris) Colburn, Marilyn (Adam) Beach, Robert Judd, Amy (Joe) Engelmeyer, Jeff, Craig and Andrew Meister, Brent, Jamie, Brandon and Brooke Meister, Britney, Tyler, Amanda and Kali Stratman and 7 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William, sons in law Jeff Stratman, and Jim Judd, and her parents.
