Vincent Ulrich, 95, of West Point, died Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Parkview Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Monday, October 1 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center. Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm with a vigil service at 6:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Family will be receiving friends at visitation from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Memorials may be made to St. Boniface Cemetery or St. Michael’s Cemetery. Vincent was born March 24, 1923 in West Point to August and Mary (Heiman) Ulrich. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School. He farmed with his dad and brothers until he was called to service with the United States Army. He began his service in 1945, serving in Germany until honorably discharged in 1946. He returned to farming and on October 2, 1957 he married Catherine Gentrup at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer. The couple farmed near Monterey where they were members of St. Boniface Catholic Church. They retired to West Point in 1990. Vincent was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Vincent had a great love for his family and enjoyed spending time with them. He enjoyed farming all his life and also enjoyed carpentry work as a hobby. He loved music and could listen to the polka shows for hours on a Sunday afternoon. Survivors include his children: Rita Ulrich of FremontLois (Gary) Niewohner of Scribner Katie (Lucas) Swanson and Nakita and Jade Annie Niewohner David (Lilly) of West PointTeresa (Jack) Goebel and JohnNathan (Shelby) Ulrich and Quinn Martha (Mark) Schweers of WisnerMegan (Tyler) Jensen and Ellison, Landry and Kasen Mitchell (Jerae) Schweers Mariha (Caleb) Schroeder Monica Ulrich of Littleton, COSisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Ulrich of Wisner, Geraldine Gentrup and Rosie Gentrup both of West Point, Sister Clarice Gentrup of Colorado Springs, CO, Leona Gentrup of Denver, CO, Millie Gentrup of Hamilton, MT, and Theresa Spader of Lyons; and brothers-in-law, Fred Gentrup of Beemer and Ted (Doris) Gentrup of West Point. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine in 2007; siblings, Frank, Leonard, Martin, and Anna Marie Meiergerd. Brothers-in-law Leo Meiergerd, William Gentrup, Ignatius Gentrup, Leo Gentrup, Dennis Johnson, and Al Spader; sisters-in-law, Hermines Ulrich, Delores Ulrich, Cecelia Johnson, and Dorothy Gentrup.
