Veronica A. “Verna” Reiman, 92 of West Point died Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at West Point Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Friday and Public Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Friday both at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s or Holy Cross Catholic Churches or the Sunshine Center. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Verna was born May 28, 1916 on a farm north west of West Point to Joseph and Anna Dirkschneider Batenhorst. She attended District #6 school and later went to school in West Point. On February 17, 1936 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, she married John Reiman. The couple farmed north east of West Point and Verna was an active farm wife. She raised a large garden did lots of canning, raised chickens and ducks. She was known for her beautiful quilts, and enjoyed all hand work. Verna was an active member of St. Mary’s Church, Guild, Christian Mothers and Catholic Daughters. She was a Red Cross Bloodmobile volunteer and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. Survivors include daughters Jolene (John) Wiesen of Fremont, Carol(Al) Hagedorn of Omaha, and Bernice (Dan) Meister of West Point, sons Gerald (Janet) of Beemer and Richard (Rita) of Eagle, sisters Ethel Ruskamp of Columbus and Marcella Praest of Dodge, brothers Winfred (Beata) Batenhorst and Richard (Nyla) all of Beemer, 23 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren and 1 great grandson. She is preceded in death by her husband, John, in February of 1994, brothers Valen and Joe.
