Verlin “Supe” Camin, 79, of West Point died Wednesday October 2, 2013 at Fremont Area Medical Center. Services will be 10:30am Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Chris Meier officiating. Burial with military honors will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00am-8:00pm Friday at Stokely Funeral Home, with family receiving friends 5:00-7:00pm. Memorials may be made to family choice. Verlin Ernest Camin was born October 4, 1933 at the family home in Snyder to Ernest and Emma (Gentele) Camin. He attended school in Dodge and Beemer, then moved to West Point. On March 3, 1957, Verlin married Barbara Kratke at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. Verlin served in the United States Navy from December 1952 until May 1954, and he was an active member of the Beemer American Legion and American Legion Riders. Verlin was employed as a maintainer operator for the State of Nebraska for 48 years. He played town team baseball in the 1950s, and his favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, and gardening. Survivors include his wife Barbara of West Point; son Clark (Brenda) Camin of West Point; daughter Stephanie (Richard) Rolf of Elkhorn; grandchildren Chris (Kayla) Camin, Mitch Camin, Erin Rolf, Steve Rolf, Blake (Maggie) Woodcock, and Austin Woodcock; great-grandchildren Cohen Woodcock and Piper Camin; brother Robert Camin of Missouri Valley; sisters Barbara Schochenmaier of Bellevue, Lola (Ervin) Wooldrik of West Point, Janice (Gary) Engelbart of Missouri Valley, IA, Beverly (Kenneth) DeHaan of Beecher, IL, and Susan Camin of Beecher, IL. Verlin was preceded in death by his parents; sister Arlene Toelle; brothers-in-law Ferdinand Toelle, James York, and Raymond Schochenmaier. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
