Verena A. Buerman, 85, of West Point, died Thursday, October 11, 2007 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. VFW Auxiliary rites will be performed. Guild Rosary will be 1:30 Sunday and Public Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Sunday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels or Central Catholic Endowments. Visitation will be 11:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Verena was born December 16, 1921 to Henry and Josephine Fleiter Ruskamp on the farm north east of Olean. She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy at Olean. On May 7, 1946, she married Leonard Ritzdorf at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. The couple farmed south of Dodge and Howells. In 1956 they purchased Main Street Bowl in West Point and settled there. Verena was active in the business. Leonard died August 23, 1966. On December 28, 1968, Verena married Virgil Buerman. Verena continued her work at the bowling alley, retiring in 1974. Verena was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and flowers. She loved to can, make candy and sew. Her passions were her family and friends. Survivors include daughters; Connie (Douglas) Moritz, and Lynelle (Lloyd) Rief both of West Point and Marilyn (LeRoy) Parr of Hooper, grandchildren; Lisa (Lynn) Lehmann, Paul (Lori) Neesen, Kelly (Josh) Perchal, Erik Wilde, Patrick Parr, Jenni (Josh) Fink, and Kyley Rief, great grandchildren; Chelsey and Cheney Neesen, Jenna and Hallick Lehmann, sister Regina Osmera of Omaha. She is preceded in death by her husband Leonard Ritzdorf August 23, 1966, Virgil Buerman on October 26, 1998, son Jimmy Ritzdorf in 1951, sisters Josephine Ruskamp and brothers Lawrence, Henry and Jerry Ruskamp.
