Twyla Mae Slagle, 67, of West Point, died October 3, 2005 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Memorial Services will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Carl Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospice. Those wishing to sign the register may do so 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. with family receiving friends 6:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home, or on line at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com.Twyla was born September 12, 1938, at West Point to Bert and Dorthea Stoltzman Peterson, was raised on the family farm north east of town, and was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church. She attended District # 73 country school and was a 1956 graduate of West Point High School. On June 17, 1956 she married Donald Slagle at Grace Lutheran Church. The couple farmed north east of West Point where Twyla enjoyed gardening. In later years she worked for the West Point Garden Center. Twyla was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Daughters of the Civil War and an Extension Club. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crocheting, reading and her grandchildren. Survivors include daughters Tamra Slagle and Debra (Dave) Rhoades both of West Point, and Diane (Troy) Gatzemeyer of Sun City, California, a son Tim (Patty) Slagle of West Point, her mother Dorthea Peterson of West Point, brothers Lance (Donna) Peterson and Neal Peterson both of West Point, a sister Mardell (Terry) Daberkow of Bancroft, grandchildren Jenna, Tyler, Tanner and Thomas Slagle, Brittney and Joshua Gatzemeyer, Dakota and Dawson Rhoades. She is preceded in death by her husband, Don, July 22, 2005, her father, and her parent-in-laws.
