Theresa Uhing, 82, of West Point died Friday, October 3, 2014 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Leo’s Catholic Cemetery in Snyder. Guild Rosary will be 1:30pm Sunday, Wake Service will be 7:00pm Sunday, and Visitation will be Noon until 8:00pm Sunday, all at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels School Endowment Theresa Elizabeth Westerman was born September 25, 1932 in West Point to Anton and Mary (Vandenberg) Westerman. She grew up in West Point and was a 1951 graduate of Guardian Angels High School. Theresa was blessed with the gift of a’green thumb’ and was in tune with nature as she worked the farm, greatly enjoying her cats and her flower gardens. On December 26, 1959, Theresa married John Uhing at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed southwest of Snyder, and following her husband’s death in 1977, Theresa moved to West Point in the Fall of 1978. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Guild, and she loved Knights of Columbus Fish Frys. Among Theresa’s favorite pastimes were reading, puzzles, Scrabble with her sister Rosie, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family. Survivors include her daughter Berny (Lonnie) Leitow of Bancroft; son Tony (Mary) O’Quinn of Salina, KS; sister Rosemary Lang of West Point; grandchildren Sarah (Vincent) Gerken, April (Brandon) Schneider, Dr. Amber (Ryan) Horn, Kristin (Kyle) Nadrchal, and Chelsee Leitow; and great-grandchildren Briana, Alyssa, and Jocelyn Gerken, Lily and Caleb Schneider, and Alexa, Kaiya, and Ezra Horn. Theresa was preceded in death by her parents; husband John on October 8, 1977; sisters Ella Hoesche and Sister Rose Anthony Westerman; and brothers John, Joe, Freddie, Paul, Hank, Ben, and Francis Westerman.
