Stephen F. Lorensen, 83, of West Point, died Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point.  Funeral service will be 10:30am on Wednesday, March 18 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Rev. James Weeder officiating.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center.  Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home.  Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Endowment.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Stephen Francis Lorensen was born on April 14, 1942, to William and DeMaris (Dillon) Lorensen. He grew up on the family farm outside of Pilger. Steve attended Pilger High School and graduated in 1959.

After high school, Steve worked various construction jobs, including Christiansen Construction in Pender, Nebraska. During that time in 1973, he met and was united in marriage to Carolyn Courtney. The couple later made their home in West Point, where Steve built a respected career in masonry.

He owned and operated Lorensen Masonry for 20 years and was known for his precision and craftsmanship, completing both commercial and residential projects throughout the area. He spent the final decade of his career working for Seedorff Masonry in Omaha before retiring in 2004.

Steve lived his life through the values he embraced, including his commitment to his masonry craft, his hard work ethic, and his great love for time spent with his family. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed upland hunting, fishing, bird watching, trapshooting, and gardening. As a man of intellect, Steve possessed a love of reading, which gave him vast knowledge on a wide variety of subjects. He also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of Bluebirds Across Nebraska, Ducks Unlimited, and Pheasants Forever.

Steve is survived by his wife, Carolyn; children, Kyle Lorensen of Huntsville, AL, Brent (Patty) Lorensen of Elkhorn, and Jared (Codi) Lorensen of North Platte; grandchildren, Kendra (Kane) Fry, Carmen, Alexandra, Nicholas, Jack, Dillon, Morgan, Adeline, and Vivian Lorensen; stepsister, Mary Antrim; sisters-in-law, Geri Frahm and Glena Soukup; and cousin, Roxy Case. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father in-law and his daughter-in-law, Wendy Lorensen.
