Stazie Bohaboj, 89, of Clarkson passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Golden Living Center in Clarkson. Funeral services will be 10:00am Saturday, February 9 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Father Patrick McLaughlin officiating. Burial is in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Wake services will be 6:30pm Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, with visitation scheduled 4:00-6:30pm at the church. Stazie Helen Bohaboj was born April 2, 1923 to Adolf and Mary (Pocta) Svitak. She attended grade school at Stanton District 32, and on November 28, 1944 Stazie was united in marriage to Frank Joseph Bohaboj at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in rural Stanton County. They farmed southwest of Dodge until 1976, when they built their home and moved to Dodge. Stazie enjoyed a large garden, raising chickens, baking, and taking care of her grandchildren. She was known for her poppy seed and apricot kolaches. Stazie is survived by four children, Martha Schmidt of Lincoln, Joseph (Judy) Bohaboj of Clarkson, Helen Castoral of Rogers, AR, and Frank (Sharon) Bohaboj of Howells; brother Victor Svitak of Clarkson; nephew Victor Novak of Yankton, SD; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Stazie is preceded in death by her parents; husband Frank in 1982; sisters Mary Svitak and Anna Novak; brother James Svitak; brother-in-law Frank Novak; sister-in-law LaVae Svitak; daughter-in-law Cindy Bohaboj; son-in-law Joe Castoral; and grandson James Schmidt.
