Sophie A. Ortmeier, 87, of rural West Point, died Monday, October 20, 2008 at Parkview Nursing home in Dodge. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Paul Ortmeier as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild and Christian Mother’s Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Wednesday and Public Wake 7:30 pm. Wednesday, both at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Sophie was born May 19, 1921 at Monterey to Frank and Sophie Meister Kreikemeier. She attended St. Boniface Catholic School. On February 10, 1943, Sophie married Edward Ortmeier at St. Boniface Church at Monterey. The couple farmed, first in the St. Charles’ area, then moving northwest of West Point. Sophie remained on the farm after Edward’s death in February of 1990, until moving to Parkview Home in Dodge, with daughter Joyce, in March of 2008. Survivors include her daughter, Joyce Ortmeier of Parkview Home Dodge, sons; Reverend Paul Ortmeier of Lyons, and Kenneth Ortmeier of West Point, a brother Anton A. Kreikemeier of Parkview Home Dodge. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edward, sisters Marie Luebbert and Pauline Baumert, brothers Charles and Albert Kreikemeier.
