Ruth Ada Furstenau, 86, of West Point, died November 27, 2006 at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Reverend Kevin Cook officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. on Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. Ruth was born August 1, 1920 at Valentine, Nebraska to Jake and Gussie Zeplin Jurgenson. She was a 1938 graduate of West Point Public High School and lived in West Point the majority of her life. On August 13, 1940, she married Clarence Furstenau. Ruth was employed at Engelhardt’s Florists and Greenhouse, Hesteds Variety Store and Sass Drug Store. Ruth and Clarence never missed an activity that their son or daughter participated in. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors include her son Larry “Frosty” of West Point, son in law David Reicks of West Point, granddaughters Cindy Reicks of Omaha and Carrie (Dr. Brandon) Essink of Creighton, and great grandchildren Kyler and Sena Essink. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence in December of 1986, and daughter Suzann Reicks in November 2002.
