Rose Kroenke, 83, of Dodge, died Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass 10:00 am. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Christian Mothers’ Rosary and American Legion Auxiliary Rites will be 3:00 pm. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Christian Wake Services will be 7:00 pm. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge. Visitation 3:00-7:00 pm. at the Church. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Rose Marie Kroenke was born on October 25, 1929, in rural Colfax County, the oldest daughter of Frank and Bertilla (Kluthe) Steffensmeier. On June 30, 1948, Rose married Louis Kroenke at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Olean. The couple farmed southeast of Dodge until their retirement in 1981. Rose was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Christian Mothers Society, and the Ladies Guild. She served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister at St. Wenceslaus and at Parkview Nursing Home. Rose belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, the Dodgers Extension Club, and several card clubs. Rose was an active volunteer in the community. Rose is survived by daughter Carol (Bill) Nish of Omaha; son Gary Kroenke of Dodge; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Doris (Richard) Pruss of Dodge and Leona (Gilbert) Parr of Fremont. She was preceded in death by daughter Bonnie in 1972 and husband Lou in 2004.
