Roger Pieper, 72, of Dodge, died Friday, September 25, 2009 at Parkview Nursing Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Olean with Reverend Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Wake Services will be 7:00 pm. Sunday at Sacred Heart with visitation 2:00 pm. until 8:00 p. M at Sacred Heart Heart. Burial in the Church Cemetery. A memorial has been established. Stokely Funeral Home of Dodge is in charge of arrangements Roger was born October 12, 1936 near Olean in Colfax County, Nebraska to William and Katherine Grosserhode Pieper. He grew up on the farm and attended Sacred Heart Academy. Following his father’s death, Roger, a very young man, helped run the family farm. Roger served in the Army Reserves from 1957 until 1963, drilling at Ashland and Scribner. On June 23, 1959, Roger married Loretta Ulrich at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys. The couple farmed until retiring into Dodge in 2001. Roger was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where he sang in the choir. He was an avid sports fan and participant. He loved woodworking and spending time with his family, playing all kinds of leisure sports and board games. His passion was for farming. Survivors include his wife Loretta, of Dodge, daughters Bonnie Wiemann of Howells, and Cheryl (Anthony) Wisnieski of Norfolk, sons Brian (Patty) Pieper of Howells and Rod Pieper of Fremont, grandchildren Eric (Ashley) Wiemann, Michelle Wiemann, Jacob and Carmen Pieper, Tessa and Amanda Pieper, Tim and Jill Wisnieski, great granddaughter Addison Wiemann, sister Ruth (Elden) Cech of Clarkson and sisters-in-law Ruth Pieper of Omaha and Darlene Pieper of Fremont. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Dallan and Elmer Pieper, sisters Kathleen Dennis and JoAnn McMullin, and a son-in-law, Dave Wiemann.
