Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintRobert’Bob’ Plagge, 81, of West Point, died Saturday, April 15, 2017 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, April 20 at 10:30am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial with military honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center. Visitation will be Wednesday from 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home and continue from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00pm. Memorials may be made to the Guardian Angels Central Catholic Endowment. Robert Lee Plagge was born to Rudolph and Clara (Berding) Plagge on January 21, 1936 in Alton, IA. He attended school at St. Mary’s Academy in Alton, graduating in 1954. Bob then joined the Army serving in Fort Bliss, TX and Fairbanks, AK. He then moved to Nebraska where he was employed at the Fremont hatchery. In 1958, Bob and his partners opened their own business, West Point Farm Supply, in West Point, NE where they sold Supersweet feeds and other agricultural products. On August 24, 1963, Bob married Karen Rolf, from West Point, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Charles. While in West Point, he was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, West Point Sportsman Club, and a charter member of the Eagles F. O. E. He was always fond of the memories he had growing up and hanging out with his childhood friends. Bob also loved spending time with his family. He spent many hours with them sharing his stories, pulling his grandchildren in the latest new toy he found, or hanging out with them at the lake. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed many trips hunting and fishing with his buddies and fish frys with them in his man cave. Survivors include his wife, Karen, of West Point; sons, Todd of Omaha, Jeff and Tim (Joan) both of West Point, and Brad (Natilee) of Lincoln; grandchildren, Nicole, Samantha, Tiffany, Jamie, Mitchell, Nolan, Ally, Megan, Noah, Stella, and Nadia Plagge; brother, James (Annette) Plagge of La Palma, CA, Val (Pat) of Alton, IA; and sister, Shirley Henry of New Hope, MN. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Clara Plagge, and brother-in-law, Richard Henry.
