Robert Dean Fredrickson 82 of Snyder died Monday July 13, 2009 at Good Samaritan Nursing home in Scribner. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder with Reverend Donald Cleary as celebrant. Wake services with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church In Snyder. Burial will be at St. Leo’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Snyder Volunteer Fire Department or To American Cancer Society. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at the church in Snyder. On line condolences may be left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Robert was born April 23, 1927 at Vail, Iowa to Raymond and Barbara Maynard Patterson, following the death of his mother, Robert and his siblings were placed in the Children’s Homefor adoption. On Christmas day, 1937, Robert went to live George and Faye Hubbard Fredrickson of Winnetoon, NE as a foster child and was adopted by them in June of 1938. Robert attended country school and Creighton High School graduating in 1946. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1946, serving only a few months, being discharged on a Hardship Dependence following his dad’s heart attack. Robert farmed for one year and then attended Boyles College in Omaha to learn telegraphy. He then worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, later working for Chicago Northwest Railroad for 39 years, retiring in May of 1987. On May 21, 1951, he married Roseline Mathine at St. Ludger Catholic Church in Creighton. He was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder, Knights of Columbus, Snyder Fire Department and the Dodge American Legion. Survivors include his wife Roseline of Snyder, children Peggy (John) Smeal of Scribner, Robert (Mary Jo) fredrickson of West Point, Sally (Tom) Smeal of Snyder and Lisa (Bob) Boyd of Hastings, brothers and sisters Jim (Judy) Zimmerman of Rockport, Illinois, Mildred Rinne of Lincoln, Martha (Ken) Barhite of Longmont, Colorado, Beverly (Charles) Nichols of Fredricksburg, Texas and Sharon (Galen) Stevens of Creighton, 12 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both sets of parents, brother Vernon, and sister Arlene.
