Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintRichard P. “Wimpy” Wickert, 90, of West Point died June 10, 2006 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be 2:00 pm. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Carl Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Sunshine Senior Center. Richard was born July 29, 1915 north east of West Point in Cuming County to Penrose and Clara Moody Wickert and attended school district #45. He married Adeline Soenksen and they later divorced. He then married Ethel Butchen in Lusk, Wyoming. Wimpy worked as a welder and mechanic before being employed by the Game Commission for 16 years retiring in 1976. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, and air boating. He will be remembered for his warm hospitality and his wonderful cooking. Survivors include his son Gene (Charlene) Wickert of Pahrump, Nevada, step daughters Doreen Meyer of West Point and Shirley Johnson of Oakland, sisters Dorothy Fenske and Grace Wickert both of Fremont, brothers Arnold Wickert of Gering, Lloyd Wickert of Las Vegas, NV, Irvin Wickert of Omaha, and Howard Wickert of Dale City, VA, a granddaughter Lisa Jansen and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, sister Evaline Wickert and a brother Marvin Wickert.
