Richard L. Kaup, 81, of Dodge, died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at Fremont Area Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Sunday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Sunday at the Church in Dodge. Memorials may be made to the Church. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Richard was born August 3, 1927 in Dodge to Fred and Catherine Wieneke Kaup. He grew up on the farm in Cuming County and attended St. Boniface Catholic School at Monterey. On January 13, 1949 , he married Bernice Dirkschneider at St. Leo’s Catholic Church at Snyder. The couple farmed the home place before retiring into Dodge in 1994. Richard worked many years as an auctioneer. Richard was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church where he served on the Church Council and a member of Knights of Columbus Council # 2272. Richard served on the Board of the Dodge Coop and Snyder Rural Fire District. He enjoyed playing cards, and bowling. He enjoyed all sport especially baseball. Survivors include his wife, Bernice, of Dodge, sons David (Clara) of Howells, Richard “Dick” (Linda) , Timothy (Jeanette) , and Robert (Susie) all of West Point, Thomas (Linda) of Fremont and Ned of Omaha, sister Bernadine (John) McGuire of Wisner, and sister-in-lawMarian Kaup of Holyoke, Colorado, 15 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sisters Kathryn Ulrich, Amelia Klitz and Margaret Foy, brother Hilbert and granddaughter Carrie Kaup.
