Richard V. Heimann, 94, of West Point formerly of Snyder, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Saunders County Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder with Reverend Don Cleary as celebrant. Public Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Visitation will be 8:00 am. until 8:30 am. Saturday at St. Joseph’s retirement Community and 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. with family present 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Burial will be at St. Leo’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph’s Retirement Community. Richard was born on the family farm north west of Snyder in Dodge County to John and Justina Meister Heimann. He attended school at St. Boniface Catholic School at Monterey and was a 1933 graduate of Snyder High School. He farmed with his family until on June 23, 1943, he married Arlene Chudomelka at St. Leos’ Catholic Church in Snyder. The couplefarmed north west of Snyder. Richard retired into St. Joseph’s Community in West Point in September 2001. Richard was a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Snyder. Survivors include his daughter Mary Powers of Lincoln, son Marvin (Phyllis) Heimann of Dodge, sister in law Emma Heimann of Scribner, grandchildren Matthew, Paul (Erin O’Gara), Kara, Anne, and Jean Heimann, Jeff (Trish) and Daniel (Kimberly) Powers, Gina (Josh) Horn and Rochelle (Justin) DeGroff, great grandchildren Reegyn, Ryanna, and Reece Powers, Braden, and Carver Powers, Colton Horn, Holden DeGroff, and Henry Heimann. He is preceded in death by his wife Arlene in 1999, son in law Tim Powers, sister Gertrude Heimann, brothers Bernard “Ben”, Joseph, Victor and Arthur.
