Show Obituaries Show Guestbook Show Photos QR Code PrintRichard H. Deppe, 64 of West Point died Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial with Military Honors will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Public Wake Service will be 7:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Sunshine Senior Center or St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Richard was born April 12, 1942 at Monterey, Nebraska to Herman and Elizabeth Kaup Deppe. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School. The family then moved south east of West Point and Richard graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1961. From July of 1961 until July of 1965, Richard served in the US Air Force. Following his discharge he returned to West Point where he worked with his father doing carpentry. He was employed at the Coop for a short time. During the 1980’s, Richard gradually quit working due to his disability. Richard was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he was money counter and sang in the funeral choir. He was also a member of the American Legion and V. F. W. and spent time at the Sunshine Senior Center. Richard enjoyed leather working and fixing bicycles. Survivors include sisters Elvera (Gerald) Scheppers of Platteville, WI, Margaret (Tom) Dermody of Indianapolis, IN, Mildred (Ed) Jankowski of Omaha, Dorothy (Don) Lawse of Mason City, IA, and Mary Deppe of Oak Creek, CO, brothers Walter (Judy) Deppe of Albermarle, NC and John (Nancy) Deppe of Alexandria SD, several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Anne Mazur.
