Richard Allen Burger, 65, of West Point died Thursday, January 19, 2007 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Randy Brotzman officiating. Burial will be in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family receiving friends 4:00 pm. until 6:00 pm. at the Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Richard “Dick” Burger was born January 29, 1941 at Palisade, Minnesota to Jacob and Olive Poole Burger. Dick grew up in Castana, Iowa. The family moved following the death of his father, to Walthill in 1957, there he was a 1959 graduate of Walthill High School. In September of 1978, he married Marie Gurntke and moved to West Point. Dick worked as a government meat inspector for 34 years retiring in 2004. On December 9, 2003, Dick received a kidney transplant. Dick was member of Elkhorn Valley Assembly of God Church. He enjoyed fishing, air boating, hunting and antique tractors. He and Marie were very much involved in raising some of their grandkids. Survivors include his wife, Marie, of West Point, step son Harilos (Monica) Gurntke and step daughter Tanja Nasa, brother John “Jim” (Norma) of Scribner, grandchildren Chelsea, Aaron, Brendon, Courtney, Nikiy, Tyler, Elijah, Matthew, Mike, Jacqueline, Michelle, and Georges. He is preceded in death by his parents and step father, Rueben Wenger, daughter Faith and sister Olive “Rose” Jenkins.
