Raymond Ortmeier, 76, of Dodge, died Tuesday June 1, 2010 at Merrick Manor in Fremont. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 am. Friday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. There will be a Rosary recited at 3:00 pm. Thursday. Wake Service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:30 pm. Thursday all at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Visitation will be 2:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Thursday at the church. Raymond Robert Ortmeier was born April 6, 1934 at Dodge to Anton and Kathryn Kreikemeier Ortmeier. He grew up on the family farm 6 miles south of Dodge, attended rural school and graduated from Dodge Public High School in 1951. Raymond served with the National Guard for 4 years. On June 5, 1956, Ray married Lorraine Knust at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. The couple farmed and raised their family 12 miles south of Dodge, retiring into Dodge in 2002. Raymond was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 3rd and 4th degree Knights, and Catholic Order of Foresters. He served as a committee member for the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. He enjoyed playing cards, listening to country music, and watching westerns on television. He was passionate about his faith, his family, his farm, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine of Dodge, daughters Donna (Dean) Hagedorn of Dodge, Linda (Tom) Kaup of Fremont, Lois (Tom) Bracht of West Point, Janis (Kenny) Dirkschneider of Scribner, Susie (Bob) Kaup of West Point, and Sharon (Ron) Schroeder of Leigh, sons Andy (Kathy) of Dodge, Mike (Jane) of North Bend, Tom (Jolene) and Larry both of Dodge, sister Patricia (Joe) Svoboda of Dodge, brothers Roman (Alvina) ortmeierand Gilbert (Lorraine) Ortmeier both of Dodge, sister in law Lou Ann Ortmeier of Dodge, grandchildren Adam, Justin and Mitchell Hagedorn, Jeff, Jacob and Morgan Bracht, Jackie, Deanna, and Samantha Dirkschneider, Nick Kaup, Ashley, Taylor and Trevor Ortmeier, Alexis and Logan Schroeder, Matthew and Megan Ortmeier, Tyler Travis and Tosha Ortmeier, and a great granddaughter Abbie. He is preceded in death by his sister and brother in law Mildred and Leonard Uher and a brother Vincent Ortmeier.
