Ray Hagedorn, 82, of West Point, died August 11, 2006 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Ray was born December 4, 1923 on the family farm at St. Charles to Anton and Mary Batenhorst Hagedorn. He attended school at St. Anthony’s Catholic School at St. Charles. On September 23, 1947 he married Elizabeth Gentrup at Holy Cross Catholic Church at Beemer. The couple lived in West Point where Ray worked for the natural gas company for many years and drove truck for Grain States Feed. He retired in 1985. Ray was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a member of the West Point Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years, serving as assistant fire chief. He enjoyed wood working. Survivors include his wife, Liz, of West Point, daughter Linda (Gary) Redel of Bennington, sons Dean (Donna) Hagedorn of Dodge and Lee (Judy) of Brighton, Colorado, sister Agnes (Jerome) Throener of Omaha, brothers Leonard (Geraldine) and Bernard (Roberta) both of West Point, grandchildren Emily (Tim) Hurt, Adam, Justin, and Mitchell Hagedorn and Sara and Matthew Hagedorn. His parents preceded him in death.
