Phyllis K. Heimann, 76, of West Point, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 21, 2025 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha. Memorial Mass will be 10:00am on Friday, April 25 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 1248 S. 10th St., Omaha, NE, with Rev. Damian Zuerlein as celebrant. Visitation will be before the funeral from 9:00am to 10:00am. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.
Phyllis was born on August 25, 1948, in Harlan, Iowa, to Al and Marie (Gilsdorf) Mueller. She was raised in Earling, Iowa, where she graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in 1967. She went on to attend St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Omaha and earned her credentials as a registered nurse.
On May 23, 1970, Phyllis married Marvin Heimann at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Omaha. Together they made their home on a farm near Monterey, west of West Point, where they raised their family and built a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love.
Phyllis dedicated her life to healthcare in many forms. She began her career as the school nurse in North Bend, later working at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point in various roles, including home health and diabetic care. Her compassion and calm presence left a lasting impact on the lives she touched.
Outside of work, Phyllis enjoyed quilting, reading, participating in book clubs, gardening, and traveling. As a piano player, music was also important in her life. She was a woman of strong Catholic faith, known for her gentle heart, warm smile, and quiet strength.
Survivors include her husband, Marvin; sons, Matthew (Galin) of Pilger and Paul (Erin) of Omaha; daughters, Kara (Mark) Smith of Omaha, Anne (Edward) Finan of Omaha, and Jean Heimann of Chicago; grandchildren, Henry and Ruby Heimann, and Marian Smith; and siblings Donald and Patricia.
