Paul John Uhing, 72, of West Point, died Saturday, December 30, 2006 at Logan Valley Manor Nursing Home in Lyons. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Public Wake with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be 7:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Guardian Angels or Central Catholic Endowments. Paul was born July 27, 1934 at West Point to William and Gertrude Kloke Uhing and grew up on the family farm east of West Point. He was a 1952 graduate of Guardian Angels Catholic School and served in the US Army in the mid 1950’s. After his military service, he returned to farming until his health would not allow. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1985. Paul moved south of West Point in 1998 and remained there until moving to Scribner Good Samaritan Home in January of 2006. He most recently moved to Logan Valley Manor in Lyons. Paul was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading and sports but his passion was the cattle feeding industry and cattle auctions. Survivors include sisters Angela Stander of Omaha, Mary Ann (Ralph) Schofield of Apex, NC, and Dorothy Ralls of Gilbert, AZ, brothers Gerald of Omaha and Clarence (Gloria) of West Point, Aunt Johanna Kloke of West Point and Uncle Herman Kloke of Hastings, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents.
