Paul Joseph Pieper, 92, of Dodge died Sunday April 20, 2008 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaham.ass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Wednesday, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Reverend Patrick McLaughlin as celebrant. Public Wake will be 7:30 pm. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Tuesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Memorials may be made to St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church or School. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Paul was born June 29, 1915 to William and Elizabeth Kassmeier Pieper at Dodge. He attended District #29, North Star School, rural Dodge. On June 12, 1940 he married Monica Heavican at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dublin, rural Schuyler. The couple farmed south west of Dodge. Paul raised and showed quarter horses. Paul served on the board of German Mutual Insurance starting in 1955 and received on his retirement the Excalibur Award Insurance Mutual of Nebraska. Paul also served on the Parkview Nursing Home board for over 20 years, chairman for 12 years, and the Dodge Coop Board for 2 terms and was chairman for 2 years. He was a member of the National Quarter Horse and Nebraska Quarter Horse Associations, was a St. Joseph and St. Wenceslaus Trustee and served on the building committee when the churches merged. He was a member of Knights of Columbus in Schuyler. He was an avid baseball fan and reader. Survivors include his wife, Monica of Dodge, sons Paul W. (Constance) and Jim (Nancy) Pieper all of Dodge, daughters; Mary Katherine (Richard) Guenther of West Point, Margaret Pieper and Alice (Phil) Brown all of Omaha, 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by sisters Mary Kroenke and Theresa Doernemann and brothers Fred and John.
