Paul Herbert Betzelberger, 66, of West Point, died January 13, 2006 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant with cremation to follow. Public Wake Services will be 7:00 pm. Monday at Stokely Funeral Home. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Paul was born November 25, 1939 on the farm at Cook, Nebraska to George and Jennie Waldemeier Betzelberger. He attended schools at Tecumseh, graduating in 1958. From May of 1962 until April of 1964, Paul served in the US Army, working as a military police in Germany. On May 23, 1964, he was married to Carole York at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Omaha by Reverend George Kempker. The couple lived in Cook from 1965 until 1978, and Whiting Iowa from 1978 until 1983, where Paul was involved in banking, in both communities. In 1983 they bought the Sears store in West Point. He operated that until 1993. Paul then worked at Wal Mart in Fremont selling Home Electronics until February of 2005. Paul was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He had been involved with his boys as a cub master and with little league baseball. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed Nebraska football and baseball. Survivors include his wife, Carole, of West Point, sons John (Carol) of Omaha, Bob and Jim both of West Point, grandchildren Erin, A. J., and Sara Betzelberger. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Charles.
