Ornitha Catherine Ritter, 80, of West Point, died Wednesday March 21, 2007 at Logan Valley Manor in Lyons. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery. A Rosary will be recited 1:30 pm. Friday and Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Friday both at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to st. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Ornitha was born May 30, 1926 on the farm near Olean to John and Mary Throener Ruskamp. Her mother died 5 days after her birth, so she was raised on the farm by Monterey by her maternal grandparents, William, Sr. and Mary Throener and a special aunt, Katie Throener. Ornitha attended St. Boniface Catholic School. On April 18, 1951 she married Rudolph Ritter at St. Boniface Catholic Church. The couple farmed 6 miles west of West Point where Ornitha was an active farm wife. She retired into West Point in 2001 and moved to Logan Valley Manor in February of 2006. Ornitha was a lifetime member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, Altar Society, Christian Mothers, Good Life Club, Just a Stitch Quilt Guild, and Benifit Hour extension club. She loved quilting, crocheting and crafts and received several first place honors at the Cuming County Fair. She tended a large garden and did lots of canning and baking. Survivors include daughters Mary Lou Ritter of Omaha, Linda (Steve) Vetick of Lyons, sons Gerald of Fremont and Roy (Kari) of West Point, sister Sister Loretta Ruskamp of Campbellsport, WI, daughter in law Linda Ritter of West Point, brother in law Andy Ritter of West Point, sisters in law Agnes (Tom) Brennan of New Jersey, and Henrietta Ruskamp of Norfolk, grandchildren Heidi (Travis) Hallsted, Jeremy (Laura) Ritter, Brandon (Leann) Ritter, Justin, and Derick Ritter, Kandace, Jason, Jessica, Eric, Jarrod, Amanda, Travis, and Tyler Ritter, Galvin, Vanessa and Jayden Vetick, Seth, Chelsea, Brandee, and Zachary Ritter, great grandchildren Austin and Jaleigh Hallsted, and Jack Ritter. She is preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, in March of 2000, sons Daniel in June of 1989 and Patrick in September of 1994, sister Louise Widhelm, brother Richard Ruskamp, half brother John Ruskamp, Jr.
