Olivia A. Emanuel, 94, of West Point, died Monday, January 17, 2011 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass of will be 10:30 Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild and Catholic Daughters Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home and Public Wake will be at 7:00 Thursday St. Mary’sCatholic Church. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 4:00 pm. Thursday at Stokely Funeral Home and then continue at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church. Olivia was born June 2, 1916 at Monterey to Henry and Anna Batenhorst Knobbe. She grew up on the family farm and attended St. Boniface Catholic School. On October 15, 1940, Olivia married Herman Emanuel at St. Boniface Catholic Church at Monterey. The couple first lived in Omaha, moved to Beemer, and in 1950 settled in West Point. Olivia kept books for and helped Herman with his construction business. In the 1970’s, Olivia worked at Baumann’s Department store in West Point. Olivia was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Survivors include her children, Beverly (Dennis) Brown of Omaha, Norm (Norma) emanuel and Kenny Emanuelboth of West Point, Patrick (Deborah) Emanuel of Temecula, CA, and Sharon (Rick) Ingersoll of Dexter, MI, 9 grandchildren Dean and Bart Brown, Kris Daberkow, Owen Emanuel, Renee Sobotka, Nicole and Derek Emanuel, Sarah and Keith Ingersoll, 8 great grandchildren Elena and Evangeline Brown, Audrey and Nickolas Daberkow, Matilda and Leo Emanuel, morgan and Mason Sobotka, sisters Margaret Witt of Columbus, Dorothy (Wally) Nebuda of West Point, LaVern (Richard) Faltin of Dodge and Joletta Mejstrik of Norfolk, brothers Jerry (Theresa) Knobbe and Richard (Marilyn) Knobbe both of West Point. She is preceded in death by her husband, Herman, in February of 1999, sisters Rita Foy and Verena Mendlik, and brothers Dennis and Arthur Knobbe.
