Monica Pieper, 93, of Dodge, died Monday June 27, 2011 at Parkview Home in Dodge. Funeral Mass 10:00 Thursday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Reverend Patrick Mclaughlin as celebrant. Christian Mothers Rosary will be 3:00 pm. Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and Public Vigil services 7:00 p. M Wesdnesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial in St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 pm. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at the church. Stokely Funeral Home in Dodge is in charge of arrangements. Monica Claire Pieper was born August 19, 1917 on the farm near Rogers to Joseph and Kate O’Hara Heavican. She attended school in Schuyler, and graduated with the class of 1934. Monica received Normal training for teachers at UNL and taught country school in the Snyder Dodge area. On June 12, 1940, Monica married Paul J. Pieper at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dublin, rural Schuyler. The couple farmed southwest of Dodge and retired into Dodge. Monica was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers and was a Parkview volunteer. She was proud of her Irish heritage, was a devoted wife and loved being a mother and grandmother. Monica’s gracious way of continually emparting life’s lessons will always be remembered. Survivors include sons Paul W. (Constance) and Jim (Nancy) Pieper all of Dodge; daughters Mary Katherine (Richard) Guenther of West Point, Margaret Pieper and Alice (Phil) Brown all of Omaha, 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul in April of 2008, sisters Mary Grady and Katherine Heavican, and brothers Martin, Joe and James Heavican.
