Mathilda C. “Tillie” Ortmeier, 94, of West Point died April 13, 2008 at West Point Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday, April 17, 2008 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Guild and Catholic Daughters Rosary along with VFW Auxiliary Rites will be 1:30 Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Public wake service with American Legion Auxiliary Rites, 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with a lunch following at the Veteran’s Club. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Guardian Angels Endowments. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. On line condolences maybe left at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Tillie was born February 17, 1914 in West Point to Frank and Mary Welding Strehle. She attended school at Guardian Angels Catholic School, graduating with the class of 1931. On July 31, 1933 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church In West Point, she married Arthur Ortmeier. The couple lived and raised their family in West Point. Tillie worked at Yarger Jewelry for several years. Tillie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Catholic Daughters, American Legion and V. F. W. Auxiliaries and Liberty Club. She was an avid card player, and was a member of several Bridge clubs. She also enjoyed cooking, quilting and letter writing. She and Arthur loved Square and Round dancing. Tillie was a woman of faith who loved her family. Survivors include sons Frank “Bud” (Doreen) OrtmeierPotrero, CA, and Patrick (Christine) ortmeierof San Diego, CA daughter Mary Scherer of Montesano, WA, 19 grandchildren and several great and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur in December of 1982, son William, brothers Winston Strehle and Frank Strehle, Jr., sisters Mary Monsonand Viola Steffl, and a brother in infancy.
