Mary Jayne Paus, 88, of West Point, died May 6, 2005 at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha. Services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at Trinity Church with Reverend John Gradwohl officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to West Point Auditorium Foundation or St. Paul Building Fund. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 am. till 8:30 pm. with family receiving friends 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Mary Jayne was born September 2, 1916 at Glen Rock, NE to Archie Charles “Shug” and Gladys V. Peery Wheeler. She attended country school and was a graduate of Auburn High School in 1934. After graduation she moved to Detroit with her brother and worked at the Henry Ford Hospital. While working at Chevrolet Parts Division in Omaha, she met Hugh Paus. They were married Oct. 28, 1944 at Omaha, NE . The couple moved to LeMars, Iowa, where Mary Jayne worked for Sears and Roebuck, then in 1959 to Rock Rapids, Iowa where they were owners of P & W Motor Company. On November 15, 1961 the family moved to West Point where Mary Jayne worked as office manager and bookkeeper for the family business, Paus Motor Sales, retiring in 1976. Hugh and Mary Jayne began wintering in Fountain Hills, AZ in 1981. They traveled extensively, and her passion was her family. She attended Trinity Church in West Point and served as Sunday School Treasurer. She was an avid reader and a lifelong Big Red football fan. Mary Jayne enjoyed working crossword puzzles and walked several miles a day, up until the day she died. Survivors include daughter Janet (Dennis) Broekemeier, sons Steve (Linda) and Roger (Connie) all of West Point, grandchildren Jodi Paus, Andi (Paul) Mengedoth, Erica (James) Colson, Zachary Paus, Michael Paus, Jeffrey (Malissa) Paus, Megan (Jeremy) Retzlaff, and Adam Broekemeier, great grandchildren Carter and Kennedy Mengedoth, Cooper Colson, and Jakson Paus, brother-in-law Elly Ingersoll of Auburn. Mary Jayne was anxiously awaiting the birth of her 5th great grandchild from granddaughter Megan. She is preceded in death by her husband Hugh in November of 1998, sisters Louise Skeen, and Phyllis “Babe” Ingersoll and brother James Wheeler.
