Mary Jochens, 93, of West Point, died Sunday, September 9, 2012, at St. Francis Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 am. Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community Chapel with Reverend Phil Fischer officiating with a lunch to follow. Graveside Services will be 1:30 pm. Wednesday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Norfolk. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 6 pm to 8 pm Tuesday at Stokely Funeral Home. A memorial has been established. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mary Alyce Jochens was born March 9, 1919 in Douglas County, NE to William and Alyce Van Epps Queen. She attended Florence School in Omaha. After meeting Ruben Falk at church youth camp, Mary and Ruben were married at the Florence Presbyterian Church in Omaha and they had two children, James and June. Ruben died at age 35 and Mary continued to run their electrical shop and raise their family. She later married Ezra Jochens and they enjoyed 20 years together before his death. Mary attended church at Peace United Church of Christ in Hoskins. She and Ezra established a yearly scholarship for students from the community. She worked with Good Neighbors in Norfolk and enjoyed helping the needy and visiting the elderly. She enjoyed many crafts, sewing, gardening and making quilts. Mary is survived by son James (Diane) Falk of West Point; son in law Gene (Rose) Acklie of Omaha; stepchildren Karen Whitecotton of Napa, CA, and Albert Jochens of Omaha; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Ruth Priborsky of Omaha. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ruben; husband Ezra; daughter June Acklie; daughter in law Sharon Falk; step daughter VirginiaJochens; brothers Everett, Robert, William, James and Richard; sisters Cora Lee Gearhart, and Bonna Belle Spitalnick.
