Mary Ann Wuestewald, 87, of West Point, died Friday, January 5, 2024 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point.  Funeral Mass will be 9:30am on Monday, January 8 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  The funeral will be live streamed on the Stokely Funeral Home Facebook page at facebook.com/stokelyfuneralhome.  Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the Nielsen Center.  Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00pm to 5:00pm with family present from 3:00pm to 5:00pm and a Vigil Service at 5:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point.  Memorials may be made to the American Veterans Park or St. Mary’s Catholic Church Endowment.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Mary Ann Wuestewald was born on April 13, 1936 in West Point to Frank and Antonette (Wolken) Recker.  Mary Ann attended Guardian Angels Catholic School, graduating in 1954. On June 7, 1955, she married August Wuestewald at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. Mary Ann worked at Bob’s Bakery, West Point Living Center, and L and M Cafe. She also provided daycare, leaving a positive impact on many lives.

Active in her community, Mary Ann was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the West Point Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Beyond her responsibilities, Mary Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Trips to the casino, engaging in games like bingo and Michigan Rummy, and attending her grandchildren’s events were sources of immense happiness. Her creative side shone through as she had a natural talent for writing poems and songs, leaving behind a creative legacy.  The warmth of her love from her heart of gold was felt by all.

Survivors include daughters, Lori Heller of West Point, Tami (Brian) Hilgenkamp of Arlington, sons Kenneth, Kevin (Julie) and Todd (Jen) all of West Point; 16 grandchildren, Laura (Dustin) Jamison, Nathan Wuestewald, Tyler (Jordyn), Travis, and Aaron Heller, Amy (Cody) Reynolds, Christopher, Brent, and Eric Schueth, Alexis, Ryan, Brittany, and Zachary Wuestewald, Nicole (Clayton) Wysocki, Jacob (Jamie) and Jeremy Wuestewald; 16 great grandchildren; daughter-in-law Brenda Wuestewald of Sioux City, IA; and sister, Yvonne Peatrowsky. Mary Ann is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Frank and Mary Wuestewald; husband, August in 2012; sons, David in 2001 and Robert in 2010; great grandchildren, Isabella Jamison in 2013, Braylin Jamison in 2014, Hadley Heller in 2021; sisters, Cathy Wehenkel and Sharon Buck; and brothers, Leonard, Merle, Dale, Clarence, and Larry.
