Mary Ann Steffensmeier, 85, of Dodge died December 4, 2014 at Shalimar Gardens in Fremont. Funeral Mass 10:00am Wednesday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Fr. An Duy Phan as celebrant. Christian Mothers Rosary and American Legion Auxiliary Rites 3:00pm Tuesday and wake service 7:00pm Tuesday, with visitation starting at 2:00pm, all at St. Wenceslaus. Burial at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St Wenceslaus Catholic Church or Dodge Veterans Memorial. Mary Ann was born December 22, 1928, on the farm 3 /12; miles north of Snyder in Cuming County to Philip and Kathyren (Schmidt) Rolf. She grew up on the farm and attended St. Boniface School at Monterey and Guardian Angels High School in West Point, boarding at the convent until her 1946 graduation. After graduation, Mary Ann was employed as a secretary at the Cuming County Extension Service from 1946-1958. On June 17, 1958, Mary Ann married Walter Steffensmeier. The couple lived in Dodge and Mary Ann worked part-time at the Vets Club and St. Wenceslaus School. Mary Ann was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Guild and Catholic Daughters. She was active in the community serving as a 4H leader, a Cub Scout den mother, held offices in the American Legion Auxiliary, Altar Society and Parish Council. She was a member of the Park Board and Extension Club. As hobbies, she enjoyed sewing, bowling and golfing. Survivors include her husband Walter of Dodge; children Gary (Julie) of Kearney, Sue (Don) Mandel of Omaha, Dean (Lisa) of Lincoln and Don (Joni) of Omaha; sister Irene (Vic) Schlautman of Council Bluffs; grandchildren Tyler, Kyle, Andrew, Matthew, Kimberly and Caleb Steffensmeier, Nick, Elizabeth and Anna Mandel, and Tifany (Craig) Stork. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Wendelin and Leander Rolf; and sisters Hildegard Rolf and Lorraine Emanuel. Stokely Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
