MarthaKaup, 97, of West Point, died Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at West Point Living Center. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am. Saturday, August 6th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Reverend Michael Grewe and Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as concelebrants. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Lunch will be served at the Guardian Angels Cafeteria. Guild, Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home, Public Wake will be 7:30 pm. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 4:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home and will continue at 5:00 pm. at the Church with family present starting at 6:30 pm. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Endowment. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Martha was born February 2, 1914 on the farm in Cuming County to Bernard and Agnes (Kube) Ortmeier. She attended St. Anthony’s Catholic School at St. Charles. On May 3, 1938, Martha married Leo Kaup at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. The couple farmed southeast of West Point moving into West Point in 1953. Martha was employed in the kitchen of St. Francis Hospital and Guardian Angels/ Central Catholic School for many years. Martha was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting afghans and word puzzles. Martha sang alto in the church choir for many years will be remembered as a prayerful person with a special dedication to the rosary. Survivors include daughter Leona (Paul) Meister of Fremont, sons Ed (Lynette), Gary (Connie), Jerome (Marguerite) and Allen (Mary) all of West Point, daughter in law Clarice Kaup of Omaha, 18 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leo in 2008, a son Kenneth in 1991, and brothers, John, Alois, and Henry Ortmeier, sisters, Johanna Oligmueller, Mary Oligmueller, Elizabeth Maly and Rose Grewe.
