Marjorie Elaine Popken, 82, of West Point, died May 30, 2005 at Creighton University Hospital in Omaham.ass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Frank Lordemann as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Guild Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Wednesday and Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Wednesday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Memorial Hospital, Guardian Angels or Central Catholic Endowments. Visitation will be 9:00 am. till 8:30 pm. Wednesday at Stokely Funeral Home. Those wishing to leave on-line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Marjorie was born July 17, 1922 at Omaha, to Hilmer and Hilda Gustafson Lofgren and grew up in Cuming County. She attended country school at District 14 and graduated with the class of 1940 from Oakland High School. On May 27, 1947 she married Henry Popken at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple farmed East of West Point until moving into West Point in 1995. Marjorie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Guild. She was known for her wonderful cooking and baking. Survivors include her husband, Henry, of West Point, daughters Sharon (Tom) Mace, Janet (Glen) Ortmeier, Rita (Darrell) Bunn, and Mary Jo (Bob, Jr.) frederickson all of West Point, and Jean Scherer (Scott) of Rapid City, South Dakota, sons Bruce (Karen) of Elkhorn and Robert of West Point, a brother Eldon (Maxine) Lofgren of West Point, 18 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents.
