Marian Jeanette Anderson, 87, of Oakland died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Oakland with Pastor Steve Hoden officiating. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. till 8:30 pm. Monday, with family receiving friends 5:00 pm. until 7:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Cancer Fund or the United Methodist Church. Marian was born February 1, 1918, at Oakland, to Eugene and Lola Gates Hultquist. She grew up on the farm west of Oakland in Burt County and attended Palmquist Country School. She was a 1935 graduate of Oakland High School. On June 29, 1940 she married Eldred Anderson at the home of her parents. The couple lived in Los Angeles, California, Detroit, Michigan, Brownsville, Texas and Redwood City, California, before settling on the farm west of Oakland in 1954. Marian worked as a grocery clerk and a bookkeeper before her retirement. The couple moved into Oakland in 1990. Eldred died in 1995. Marian spent the last years of her life in the Oakland Heights and West Point Living Center Nursing Homes. Marian was born February 1, 1918, at Oakland, to Eugene and Lola Gates Hultquist. Survivors include her sons Rodger (Jane) Anderson of West Point, John (Linda) Anderson of Prior Lake, Minnesota, sisters Ardel Gordon of Palo Alto, California, Dorothy Degner of Bremerton, Washington, Shirley King of Omaha, and June Schold of Oakland, grandchildren Lisa Stalp, Sarah Reifenrath, John, James, and Rachel Daberkow, Blair and Drew Anderson, great grandchildren Mackenzie, Sydney, Jackson and Dominic Stalp, Alea and Lucas Reifenrath, Helena and Callum Daberkow. She is preceded in death by her husband Eldred, sisters Dora Hultquist, Elaine Thornblad and Vivian Enginebaucher, great grandchild Mika Daberkow.
