Marguerite Hester Johnson, 91, of West Point, formerly of Scribner, died February 8, 2007 at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at the United Church of Christ in Scribner with Pastor Linda C. Newman officiating. Burial will be in the Scribner Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family receiving friends 3:00 until 5:00 at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to the United Church of Christ. Marguerite was born March 6, 1915 on the farm in Dodge County, east of Crowell, to John and Hester McDonald Diers. She attended country school and was a 1933 graduate of Scribner High School. Marguerite was married to Marvin Johnson. The couple ran an electrical business in Scribner where Marguerite was bookkeeper and homemaker. They divorced in 1966. Marguerite then worked at Montgomery Wards in Fremont, then as a cook at Scribner Public Schools retiring in 1977. She moved to Howells to live with her son, Bob, in 1999 then to the West Point Living Center in 2003. She attended the United Church of Christ in Scribner and was a member of Royal Neighbors, and Degree of Honor. Survivors include her sons Lavon “John”, and Robert of Howells, 4 granddaughters and several great grandchildren, sister in laws Inez Diers of West Point and Gloria Diers of Baker City, OR. She is preceded in death by a sister Gladys O’Donnell and brothers Buford J. and Gordys Diers.
