Margaret M. Wortman, 95, of West Point, died Thursday, March 25, 2010 at West Point Living Center. Memorial Mass will be 10:30 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Guild and Catholic Daughters Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Friday and public Wake services will be 7:00 pm. Friday both at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Memorial visitation 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Endowment. Margaret was born August 12, 1914 at Pequot, Minnesota to Ben F. and Grace Sexton Graunke. As a small child the family moved to West Point where Margaret was raised. She was a 1930 West Point High School graduate. Following graduation, Margaret worked for Otto Zacek, Attorney at Law. On September 22, 1938, Margaret married Leonard Wortman at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point. The couple farmed south of West Point retiring to town in 1999. Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild and Catholic Daughters. She played in the same Pinochle club for 50 years. She enjoyed visiting on the telephone and working crossword puzzles. But her real joy was spending time with her grandchildren. Survivors include son Dan (Linda) Wortman of West Point, grandsons Neil (Sarah) Wortman and their sons Lucas and Nathan of Olathe, Kansas, and Ben (Teri) Wortman and their daughter Alpine of Bennington, and sister-in-law Janette Graunke of Tucson, Arizona, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 2003, son Tom in 1967, sister Gretchen Hinze and brothers Dave and Bill Graunke.
