Margaret Oswald, 88, of West Point, died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am. Saturday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Gerald Gonderinger as celebrant. Guild, Catholic Daughters and Christian Mothers Rosary will be 1:30 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Public Wake will be 7:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:00 am. until 8:00 pm. Friday at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point which is in charge of arrangements. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Margaret was born May 4, 1920 in West Point to Anton and Katherine Ermels Toelle. She attended Guardian Angels Catholic School graduating with the class of 1938. Following the death of her mother she assumed the household duties at home and helped to raise her siblings. At age 21, Margaret went to work as a telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company. A position she held for over ten years. On June 20, 1951, she married Robert Oswald. Margaret was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Guild, Christian Mothers, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, and was a charter member of The Catholic Daughters of America. She served as a 4-H and Brownie leader. Following her retirement she was primarily a homemaker. Survivors include daughtersJudy (Leo) Meyer of Huntsville, Utah, and Janine Rush of Overland Park, Kansas, sons Ronald (Marilyn) Stanley and John (Monica) all of Lincoln, sister in law Lucille Toelle of West Point and brother in law Lee Burkink of Scribner, several grandchildren, step grandchildren, great grandchildren , nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
