Marcella “Sally” Schlecht, 92, of West Point, died Sunday, July 13, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00pm to 7:00pm with a Vigil Service at 7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home.  Private family burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunshine Center.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Marcella Schlecht was born on March 16, 1933 to Einer and Christina (Meier) Johnson in West Point.  She graduated from West Point Public High School in 1950.  In June of 1956, Marcella married William Schlecht at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  The couple farmed east of Beemer where Marcella raised their four children.  After William’s death in 1991, she moved to West Point in 1993.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Guild where she also helped with funeral luncheons for many years.  When she wasn’t tending to her garden or canning, Marcella could be found at the Sunshine Center.  She was proud to be on the Board at the Sunshine Center for many years and enjoyed many games of pitch there.

Survivors include her daughter, Cyndy Beune and husband Robert Marksmeier of West Point; sons, Ronald (Eileen) of West Point and Stanley of Beemer; grandchildren, Diana (Dan) Koger, Amy (Ben) Heller, and Kevin Beune; and great grandchildren, Hunter, Kylee, Ila, Slate, and Olivia.

She was preceded by her parents; husband, William; son, Kenneth in 2023; son-in-law Jeff Beune; and sisters, Irene (Frank) Hahn, Bernice (Lawrence) Naber, Delores (Clarence) Poppe, and Ruth (Delmer) Hinz.
