Ludovica Elizabeth Baumert, 87, of West Point, died March 12, 2007, at West Point Living Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am. Thursday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church at Aloys. Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery. Rosary will be recited 1:30 Wednesday by St. Mary’s Guild, and Public Wake Services will be 7:30 pm. Wednesday, both at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to Central Catholic Endowment or St. Aloysius Cemetery. Those wishing to leave online condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com.Ludovica was born June 26, 1919 at Aloys to Edward and Anna Praest Meiergerd and attended St. Aloysius School. On April 29, 1946, she married Richard Baumert at St. Aloysius. The couple farmed south of Aloys until retiring into West Point in 2001. Ludovica was an amazing cook and seamstress. She enjoyed quilting and working in her huge garden. She was involved in caring for and raising nieces and nephews and grandchildren after the deaths of their mothers. She was a current member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and guild, and was a former member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Survivors include her husband, Richard, Sr. of West Point, daughter Judith (Jeff) Light of Philomath, OR, sons Richard, Jr. (Jean) of West Point, Don (Sharon) of Lincoln and Dan of Bangor, ME, brother Ray Meiergerd of West Point, grandchildren Tony Baumert, Jessica Baumert, Sarah Baumert, Tim (Cassie) Baumert, Melissa (Matt) Frigaard and Spencer Light, great grandchildren Ellie and Grace Baumert. She is preceded in death by brothers Fr. Godfrey Meiergerd, Aloysius “Alex” Meiergerd and Edward Meiergerd, Jr. and daughter in law Terri Baumert. Lunch will be served at the Vets Club.
