Louis Luebbert, 99, of West Point, died Monday, April 1, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hillside Villa in West Point. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am on Saturday, April 6 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point with Fr. Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery with lunch following at the GACC Cafeteria. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00pm to 6:00pm with Knights of Columbus Rosary at 6:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home in West Point. Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Endowment or the Sunshine Center. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home. Louis Henry Luebbert was born October 29, 1919 in West Point to Henry and Cunigunda (Schlickbernd) Luebbert. He attended country school and graduated from eighth grade at Guardian Angels in 1933. On February 11, 1947, Louis married Verena Knust at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells. The couple farmed north of West Point, in Cuming County, and moved to West Point in 1986. Louis was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, volunteering as a funeral usher; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, serving as secretary; and Cuming County Feeders Association, serving as secretary from 1969 until 1979. Louis was an avid supporter of the church and community. He attended every Blue Ribbon Dinner since its inception. Louis’s favorite pastimes included golf and bowling. Survivors include his wife Verena of West Point; son Scott Luebbert of Thousand Oaks, CA; daughter Lisa (David) Sheldon of Bellevue; brother, Donald (Teresa) Luebbert of West Point; grandchildren Bridget (Kavan) Murphy, Bethany (Jeffrey) Antioho, Christina (Christopher) Kerner, Abigail (Jacob) Rossi, Lindsay (Lucas) Antoho, Dustin Sheldon Sr., and Jennifer Sheldon; and 14 great-grandchildren. Louis was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leo (Oliva) and Marvin (Nellie) Luebbert; and sister, Laura (James) Wagner.
