Lorraine D. (Mrs. Raymond) Ortmeier, 84, of Dodge, died Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Nye Legacy in Fremont.  Funeral Mass will be 10:00am on Monday, February 13 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Rev. Matt Gutowski as celebrant.  Burial will be at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery with lunch following at the church hall.  Visitation will be Sunday from 3:30pm to 6:00pm with a Christian Mother’s Rosary at 3:30pm and Vigil Service at 6:00pm at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  Memorials may be made to Dodge Fire and Rescue or St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church.  Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

Lorraine D. Ortmeier was born on July 29, 1938 to Ben and Catherine (Eusterbrock) Knust in Howells.  She was baptized and confirmed at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells and attended school at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School to the 8th grade.  She graduated from Howells Public High School in 1956.  On June 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Raymond Ortmeier at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells.  They farmed in the Webster area south of Dodge raising hogs, cattle, and had a dairy herd.  In 1984, the couple sold their livestock and Lorraine went to work for Scheppers Day Care.  In 1990, she opened her own daycare and retired in 2014.  She also worked at Hilltop Lanes and Farmers Union Station.  Lorraine was a CCD teacher and taught confirmation classes.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna (Dean) Hagedorn of Fremont, Linda (Tom) Kaup of Fremont, Lois (Tom) Bracht of West Point, Janis (Kenny) Dirkschneider of Scribner, Susie (Bob) Kaup of West Point, and Sharon (Ron) Schroeder of Leigh; sons, Andy (Kathy) of Dodge, Mike (Jane) of North Bend, and Tom (Jolene) of Columbus; sister, Viola Kreikemeier of West Point; brother Bert (Christy) Knust of Houston, TX; brothers and sisters-in-law, Alvina Ortmeier, Louanne Ortmeier, and Gib (Lorraine) Ortmeier all of Dodge, Patricia Svoboda of West Point, and Sylvia Knust; grandchildren, Adam (Cori) Hagedorn, Justin (Serena) Hagedorn, Mitchell (Chelsea) Hagedorn, Nick (Shelby) Kaup, Jeff (Kaylie) Bracht, Jackie (Lisa) Hayes, Deanna (Adam) Motzko, Samantha (Cole) Arnett, Jacob (Kerbie) Bracht, Morgan (Tyler) Weitzenkamp, Ashley, Taylor, Trevor, and Allison Ortmeier, Alexis and Logan Schroeder, Matthew and Megan Ortmeier, and Tyler, Travis, and Tosha Ortmeier, and Zoie Hayes; great grandchildren, Abby and Will Hagedorn, Cameron, Charlie, and Blake Bracht, Emery, Berkley, Laney Jo, and Tripp Hagedorn, Henley and Pacie Hagedorn, Kapaun and Teegan Kaup, and Evelyn and Lorraine Motzko; and many nieces and nepews.

Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Ortmeier; son, Larry Ortmeier; great-grandchild, Karsyn Kaup; siblings, Irene (Joe) Prusa, Alvina (Frank) Kreikemeier, Evelyn (Don) Peitzmeier, Rose (Harold) Meister, and Dennis Knust; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joe Kreikemeier, Mildred (Leonard) Uher, Vince Ortmeier, Joe “Keppy” Svoboda, and Roman Ortmeier; and parents-in-law, Anton and Katherine Ortmeier.
