Lorna F. Glissman, 78, of West Point, died Friday, February 27, 2009 at West Point Living Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Trinity Church with Reverend Nora Mendyk officiating. Burial will be at the Bancroft Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday with family present 3:00 pm. until 5:00 pm. Memorials may be made to Trinity Church or Local Relay for Life. Lorna was born October 25, 1930 at Wakefield to James and Anna Hensley Jones. She attended school at Emerson and graduated Valedictorian with the class of 1948 from Pender High School. On June 20, 1948 she married Robert Glissman at the Presbyterian Church in Pender. The couple farmed north of Pender, until 1962 when they moved to the farm near Bancroft. In July of 1981, Lorna moved to West Point. She then worked part time for the newspaper. Lorna was a member of Trinity Church, VFW Auxiliary, and Road Gems. She enjoyed playing the piano, crocheting, crafts and golf. Survivors include daughters Linda Cromer of West Point and Susan (Larry) Strudl of Howells, sons Clayton (Lori) of Bancroft and Brad of Pender, daughter in law Becky Glissman of South Sioux City, longtime friend Tommie Throener, grandchildren; John Cromer, Michael and Steven Glissman, Jennifer Bierbaum, Christopher and Melissa Glissman, Travis and Tracie Bettenhausen, Nicholas, Matthew Jeremy and Joshua Strudl, Lisa Glissman Mayher and Emily Glissman, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert in 1977, sons Joel and Gary, grandsons Robert Strudl and Brian Glissman, sisters Mildred Zada Jones, Alva Borg, Mary Ellen Dye and Vivian Delano, and brothers Carl and Jim Jones.
