Lily Weitzenkamp, 97, of West Point died, March 2, 2006 at the West Point Living Center. Services will be 10:30 am. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church with Reverend Carl Kramer officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until 8:00 pm. Sunday at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church. Those wishing to leave on line condolences may do so at www.stokelyfuneralhome.com. Lily was born July 7, 1908 on the family farm east of West Point to Soren and Dorthea Nielsen Jensen. She attended country school Dist. #15, graduated from West Point High with the class of 1925, and then attended Midland Lutheran College at Fremont. She taught country school before her marriage. On, May 25, 1938 she married Alvin Weitzenkamp at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point. The couple farmed near Uehling and eventually settled on the farm east of West Point. After raising her children, she returned to teaching at West Point Elementary, retiring in the mid 1960’s. Lily was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and in earlier years, square dancing. Survivors include her children Dorothy (Frank) Bay of Milan, Illinois, Larry (Audrey White) Weitzenkamp of Kotzebue, Alaska, Leta Searcy of Phoenix, Arizona and Roger (Dianne) of Dolores, Colorado, grandchildren Julie (Bruce Herring) Bay, Paul (Gretta Anderson) Bay, David (Marianne Latz) Weitzenkamp, Mark Weitzenkamp, Janet (David) Grundstrom, and Lori Searcy, great grandchildren, Rebecca Bay, Nathan Bay, Michael Grundstrom and Dylan Grundstrom, 29 nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin, on October 25, 2003, siblings James and Agnes Jensen in infancy, Agnes Hubert, Alma Butcher, and James Jensen.
