LeRoy E. Haase, 72, of Wayne, formerly of Bancroft, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Careage of Wayne. Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Richard Bringewatt officiating. Burial will be at the Bancroft Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Radio Broadcast. Visitation will be Friday 9:00 am. till 3:00 pm. at Stokely Funeral Home and continuing at St. Paul Lutheran Church where family will receive friends from 5:00 pm. to 8:00 pm. Stokely Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. LeRoy Edwin Haase, 72 of Wayne, formerly of Bancroft died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Careage of Wayne. LeRoy was born January 7, 1939 in West Point to Albert “Jack” and Hedwig “Hattie” (Toelle) Haase. He was baptized on January 29, 1939, confirmed on March 29, 1953 and attended school at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Beemer. He was a 1957 graduate of West Point Public School, attended two years at Iowa State, and served in the Army Reserves as an MP stationed in Colorado Springs, CO. On December 29, 1963 he married Diane Dietrich at Zion Bancroft Lutheran Church. The couple lived in West Point where LeRoy worked at Rasmus Oil, Patterson Dairy and Wimmers until 1981, when he began farming. In 1985, they moved to the farm, and in the 1990’s, LeRoy worked part time at Pender Livestock Market. In July of 2007 he retired to assisted living in Wayne due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, serving on various board. He took pride in his involvement at the Cuming County Fair, one year having over 150 entries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, tending to his three acre garden and apple orchard and he loved his dog, Bandit. Survivors include, daughter Barb of Norfolk, son Allen (Penny) of Bancroft, grandchildren Gregory, Melissa (Justin) Redding and Lindsey (John) Wulf, great-grandchildren Hunter Wulf, Kaidence Wulf and Savannah Redding. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Diane.
