LeRoy Albus, 86, of West Point, died Sunday, May 21, 2023 at Providence Place in Fremont. Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, May 24 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point with Rev. John Gierke officiating. Visitation with family present will be held Tuesday, May 23 from 5:00-7:00pm at Stokely Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Providence Place Memory Care in Fremont or St. Joseph’s Elder Services Foundation. Arrangements by Stokely Funeral Home.

LeRoy E. Albus was born on the family farm near West Point on April 7, 1937 to Arthur and Ida (Jahnke) Albus. He attended elementary school at Zion Lutheran School near Bancroft and helped on the family farm. LeRoy was united in marriage to Sharon Heyne on November 19, 1957 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Pender. The newlyweds welcomed the responsibility of raising Sharon’s sisters, Mary and Carol, in their home as well as raising their 4 sons and 2 daughters. In addition to farming, LeRoy worked for IBP and later Tyson from 1968-2006. Retirement didn’t suit him, so he kept busy by working at Pender Pig for a few more years.

LeRoy and Sharon were always ready for a fun outing whether that was camping with the family or a trip to the casino. He had a love of music and sang with the Cuming County Choraliers. He could be found playing cards or perusing over his coin collection. LeRoy was always an animal lover, but he had a special bond with his chihuahua “Tiny.”

Survivors include his sons Nick (Delpha) of Lexington, Dan (Kay) of Madison, Chad (Tab) of Pender; daughters Barb (Carter) Urwiler of Wisner and Ginger (Joel) Hunke of Snyder; daughter-in-law Shelley Albus of West Point; brother Kenneth Albus; in-laws Ron (Mary) Neiman and Jim Reimers; grandchildren Jenica (Jason) Harmoney, Desirae (Jake) Davis, Hawken (Molly) Albus, Crystal Albus, Cassie Albus, Lane Albus, Jordan Albus, Rodney (Kelli) Cox, Crystal Braun, DeAndra (Rick) Dirkschneider, Alexis Renter, Brett (Delayna) Hunke, Maci Hunke, Mariah Hunke, Marissa Hunke, Tanner Albus, Conner Albus; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; wife Sharon on June 8, 2012; son Chris on May 27, 2022; siblings Laura Lase and husband Louis, Willard Albus and Eunice Albus; in-laws Carol Reimers and Warren Heyne; granddaughters April, Brittany and Alyssa Albus.
